International Business

Question: Discuss about theInternational Business. Answer: Introduction: Walmarts business activities are determined by the organizational structure of the company. The organizational structure of the company helps the organization to solve its business related problems in an efficient manner. In accordance with Walmart, the organizational structure depicts the way in which people will react to the challenges at the workplace. However, in the long history of Walmart, it is growing and flourishing at both national as well as international aspects (Epstein and Buhovac 2014). This is because of the organizational structure and culture of Walmart that have helped the organization to achieve competitive advantage and success as well. Discussion: The organizational structure functions hierarchically and the main features of this structure are hierarchy and function based definition. This feature of hierarchy is associated with the vertical lines of command as well as the authority across the organizational structure. In order to provide a suitable example, it can be said that only except the Chief Executive Officer, each employee of the organization has a superior (Terpstra, et al. 2012). The line managers down to the regular staff of the Walmart stores implement directions and orders coming from the top management level of Walmart. On the contrary, the feature of function-based definition of Walmart involves employees in a group for serving certain purposes of the company. Walmart currently has a separate department for managing the human resources, another department for dealing with the information technology related issues as well as other departments for the functioning of technology (Albers et al. 2013). These are one o f those departments among numerous function based other departments. The most crucial effects of the hierarchical organizational structure of Walmart is that, it enables the managers of the organization to influence the complete organization very easily. Therefore, in this way Walmart achieves a distinguishingly effective monitoring and control mechanism. The main difficulties associated with this organizational structure are that it provides organizational flexibility as low as possible. Walmarts organizational culture is amalgamates four main components and these components affect the behavior of the employees. These components are, Service to clients, respect for the persons, striving for superiority and acting with honesty. Now, as Walmart is willing to enter the Chinese market it is quite evident that this organizational structure is ideal for the company for operating globally. On the contrary, should improve its beliefs in the context of its organizational culture. Though these beliefs are ideal for the company, it is evaluated on several grounds for not addressing the concerns of the employees regarding lower wages (Albers et al. 2013). Therefore, the company should look into this matter and try to solve this problem as effectively as possible. On the other hand, as the company is planning to operate in China, it should also take into account the operability of its organizational structure and culture in accordance with the Chinese culture and mentality of the residents of the country (Griffin et al. 2016). In order to conclude, it can be said that the organizational culture and structure of Walmart is quite well for operating in Chinese framework. However, the company should try to develop a better understanding about the Chinese market structure and cultures and thereby adapt its organizational structure and culture accordingly. Duets free essay sample

At its best, the music of Elton John reminds me of the ocean. It opens off with broad ripples of instrumental music, their sounds sparkling like rays of sunlight. As the song progresses, the music, with its ever-shifting nuances, rapidly builds to a crescendo. The uplifting impact of this intense delivery is comparable to that of a wave breaking on the shore. Finally, all is calm again until the next wave. While this is the ideal impression of Johns music, it is not always an accurate one. Johns musical output is usually brilliant, but his Duets album contains a surprisingly large amount of below par performances. What makes this even more surprising is that many of the more mediocre duets involve combinations with top musical talent, including k.d. lang and Little Richard. The first song of the album, Teardrops, (John/lang) more or less sets a precedent for subsequent duets: vanilla-flavored lyrics, a lack of intensity, and lackluster instrumental support. We will write a custom essay sample on Duets or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page But this is by no means true for every performance, as the next song, When I Think About Love (I Think About You) (John/P.M. Dawn) dazzlingly displays. This song has everything that Teardrops does not: strong contributions from both artists, a solid refrain in which John and Dawn thrust their voices forward in unison, and an altogether enjoyable sound. Happily, at a time when the album is most in need of a good song, John finally responds in style. He closes the first side with not one but two sterling efforts, A Womans Needs (John/Tammy Wynette) and the superb Dont Let the Sun Go Down on Me (John/George Michael). Dont Let the Sun Go Down on Me is pure Elton. Almost as if in realization of this, Michael takes a back seat to Elton during the song. But unlike True Love, the rhythmic sound of the piano is like the ebb and flow of the ocean, adding a steadiness and progression to the lyrics. Elton returns to his old mediocre habits on the second side. In Love Letters (John and the delightful Bonnie Raitt), the presence of Raitt and the instrumental accompaniments add a country-western flavor to the song. While the slow pace of Love Letters contrasts with the upbeat style of Im Your Puppet, both are welcome changes from the drab format of the first four songs on the second side. Born to Lose (John/Leonard Cohen) creates an entirely new mood. The song itself conjures up scenes of some bluesy 1930s nightclub. Cohens deep, gravelly voice adds to the mournful but resigned tone of the song. Cognizant of this, Elton now is the one who takes a back seat and lets Cohen and the piano do their thing. The last song on the album, Duets for One (a solo performance), is something of an anticlimax, but it closes off Duets on a high note. Upon listening to Duets, one might wonder why so many songs are so bland. The quality of the songs chosen was mediocre at best. Others, such as Teardrops and The Power, may have combined too much talent. It is interesting that two of the albums better offerings, When I Think About Love (I Think About You) and A Womans Needs, are both duets with lesser-known artists. Whatever the reasons, much of Duets is comprised of underachieving efforts from performers with great potential

Uneasy vs. Uneased

Uneasy vs. Uneased Uneasy vs. Uneased Uneasy vs. Uneased By Maeve Maddox I read the following quotation in a newspaper account of a local city council meeting: Im uneased by the fact that we have land in the city [that is not zoned]. Surely, the councilman meant to say that he was uneasy about the fact! At once I began a Web search and discovered that this strange use of uneased is not- so far- in the millions, but its out there in the thousands: I am uneased by heights, but I love zip-lining for some reason. I am personally uneased by even letting my kid walk to the front door by himself. They were uneased by your appearance and took a few days before getting used to seeing you about town. Its not always clear what uneased in the expression uneased by is intended to convey. Sometimes, as in the councilmans quotation, it seems to be used where uneasy would be idiomatic, but sometimes it seems to mean uncomfortable, in pain, or frightened. In the following paragraph on a professional medical site, any of the four could be intended: A mammogram should never be painful. This common conception is the reason many women put off scheduling their annual mammograms. If you ever are uneased, inform your mammography technologist so that they may alleviate your discomfort. Note: This illustrative quotation contains other writing errors, but for now, let’s just consider uneased. The word ease can be either a noun or a verb. For example: Miss Hannigan desired a life of ease. (noun) We admire aid workers who ease the suffering of refugees. (verb) The verb ease (ease, eased, has eased) has acquired numerous meanings since its earliest OED citation: to give ease to (1340) to relieve or lighten a burden (1374) to give ease of mind (1385) to relieve the bowels (1440) to relax (1863) to make to fit (1891) to break in gently (1892) The following examples (all in past tense) illustrate these meanings: Joplin home eased orphans plight Following advice he had received from Pollard, Woolf had eased up on Seabiscuit, allowing his horse to see his rival, then asked for more effort.   The home mortgage market improved last quarter as demand increased and many banks eased their lending standards for the most creditworthy borrowers, Black and White Ointment quickly  eased  the itching, burn and sting. The A E crisis hitting hospitals all over the country could be eased if the paperwork burden was eased on family doctors. Defra has  eased  restrictions on the movement of animals in England. The man eased the injured foot into a shoe. The carpenter planed and eased the dragging door. The new governor eased the misery of the people by lowering taxes. Confessing to the lie eased his conscience. Far removed from the conveniences of indoor plumbing, the people eased themselves in the bushes. A conscience or a pain might go uneased, but in standard usage, people are uneasy about things that bother them. Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? Team work Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Team work - Essay Example An important element of human nature is that every individual has own opinions and independent methods of working. Every individual wants importance, power, authority and control over other. However, the teamwork emphasises on sharing of opinions, ideas, experiences, rewards and punishments. Cohesive efforts and collaborative knowledge brings success to any organisation and healthy team environment. Training, co-training, and workshops are conducted by employer to equip their employees with necessary skills required for teamwork. The necessary information, resources and materials should be exchanged with teammates. The interdependence and dynamic interactions among the team members plays an important role to adopt certain strategy to complete a particular project. Team success can be achieved through positive outcome of series of events and coordination of series of tasks. In order for teamwork culture to succeed, some aspects of teamwork like motivation, leadership, and open communi cation plays major role. All these factors interact with each other and influence the overall excellence of the organisation (Nadjiwon-Foster 2002). When organisation adopts flat structure by eliminating many middle-level management positions, leadership plays an innovative role at all levels. The functional and legitimate behaviour of leader influences his teammates (Barker 1996). The leader inspires other team members to behave and perform in a certain way. The formal and informal forms of his influence help in building flexible, yet successful organisation with shared vision. When anybody in the team has disruptive influence on the other teammates and consequently impairing the team’s objectives, leader must take immediate action in the form of warnings or punishments. The person should be made aware of aftereffects of his behaviour. The leader has to handle varied personalities having different temperaments, cultures,
