The Debate Between Faith and Science - 805 Words

In today’s world there is an ongoing debate between faith and science. The extraordinary advances of science have sometimes led to the belief that it is capable of answering by itself all of mans questions and resolving all his problems. Some have concluded that by now there is no longer any need for God. It has been said that one must choose between faith and science: either one embraces one or believes in the other. People seem to have faith belief in God as creator of life and some have scientific beliefs in the spontaneous generation of life from inanimate matter (Wright 111). Between faith and science there will always be conflict. A scientist who is committed to scientific research no longer has a need for God and vice versa is†¦show more content†¦Everything in biology ranging from meiosis, genetics, to anatomy includes God’s Governance of the cosmos, even chance and random processes (Wright 26). Although many argue about God controlling â€Å"randomâ⠂¬  events he can act in an area of uncertainty. Whatever may happen we will not be able to perceive what he does, concluding that he is involved in all phenomena and processes of nature (Wright 28). Biblical information about the relationship between God and his world is foundational to developing a Christian view of science and biology. In the article entitled â€Å"Looking at Nature through Other Eyes: God’s Governance of Nature in the Religion-Science Debate†, it takes a closer look at Intelligent Design (ID) and God’s Governance of nature. ID is explained as a meager substitute for biblical notions of creation, providence and divine wisdom (Cook 281). It seems that ID has made numerous conclusions on naturalism. J.P. Moreland said â€Å"The fear of methodological naturalism is that it seems inevitably to lead scientists to reject theism† (Cook 281). With scientists starting to reject theism most turned deistic and atheistic.
